Triple MVP Nikola Jokic endures a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
The star player was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half during an accidental collision with team-mate Spencer Jones.
Jones came down on the foot of the MVP, and he immediately collapsed to the court holding his leg.
The 30-year-old, that tops the league season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup prior to incurring the setback.
The player will undergo an MRI scan on the following day to determine the extent of the issue.
"Instantly, Jokic realized he was hurt," stated Denver coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever that gets hurt, it's tough to see, especially a player as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We will continue as a team. Clearly, at this moment, I'm more worried just about him as a person and the letdown of going through a situation like that."
