New Information Surface About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light about the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence residence on Sunday.
A Alarm
A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Furthermore pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
