Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a range of guests.
For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for several years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.
They have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
