Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
