Sunshine, meat pies and world-famous cricket grounds - what else would an England cricket fan possibly want?

Realistically, they'd hope for an contest for the urn in Australia where they still have a chance to win back the Ashes after the first three Tests.

That will not be happening this time, though, after Australia's crushing 82-run win in Adelaide gave Australia leading three-nil for the fourth consecutive series on their own soil.

The loyal traveling fans, the vocal contingent, have a large group making the journey for the last two matches in New South Wales and Victoria.

Furthermore, other tour groups who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as loved ones heading for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are four such fans.

The four siblings had their itineraries and entry credentials arranged for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a historic English victory.

From afar, they've seen Australia defeat England convincingly in just 11 days from their family home in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"All my colleagues has been teasing me that the series is done for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"The hope was that we would have the series on the line by the time we arrived."

Diminishing Hope

Optimism was high about England's chances of ending their 15-year wait for a series win in Australia before it began.

But they are now looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The tourists - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "excitement and fun" of head coach the positive style of play in recent times had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for England fans.

But the Ryding siblings said they had minimal hopes for the remaining matches - and all they are requesting from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all hinges on mental resilience. 'This style has been become a phrase now that is just, like, nonsense cricket," stated Rory Ryding.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Chasing balls 'sixth stump' areas has not been part of the coaching manuals, and that is primarily due to the batting lineup."

Looking Ahead

Prompted about he believed England will secure a victory in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side right now."

"There is going to have to be multiple performers that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."

Despite the scoreline, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience regardless," commented Katie Ryding. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money as it is."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year in Australia. It is also our first experience away from home at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the long-haul travel as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I've got golf to fall back on," she finished.
