The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that attracts so many fans into the National Football League
This outcome may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a monster clash next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the team's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but running back Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Containing the league's best rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and company registering just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three crucial ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine minute drive yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into seven points just two plays
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - Patriots Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three different eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the best?
One could find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the weaker opponents, with just five of their total twenty-four wins achieved against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was huge
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his team to victory
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year running back Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
While you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There is a long way to go but the door is open for a shock number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Set for Next Week Clash
Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three different eight and two sides are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each scored forty points to reach seven and two before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in Los Angeles
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a contest
Each could realistically be undefeated as well - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are genuinely among the top teams in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a record season after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three touchdowns and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
